Symposium on "Delivering Race Equality through Leadership in Hampshire, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight and Southampton":
 
To be held on April 28th, 2005 at the Holiday Inn, Eastleigh.  The symposium is organised by the BME sub-group to the HIOW Mental Health Network and addresses race equality issues in mental health.  It is part of a series of events aimed at Mental Health and Social Care service users and providers

LSP Chairs Network Meeting
 
To be held on meeting at 2 pm on 9th June at Havant Civic Offices.  The Hants & IOW Local Government Association has invited Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the Local Strategic Partnerships in Hampshire to attend this meeting.  It will consider the launch of a pilot programme of training and development to help build the capacity of LSPs.  Keith House, ESP Chair, will be attending for Eastleigh.

Letter from HCC Councillor TimKnight
 
Councillor Knight has sent a letter to Hampshire LSP Chairs inviting funding bids to HCC from LSPs.  The letter indicates that the ESP could bid for funds of around £10k to support its activities.  ESP Members, particularly Theme Leaders are asked to begin considering ideas for potential bids.  Please forward your ideas to Melvyn Reader, Policy Development Officer, Eastleigh Borough Council, Civic Offices, Leigh Road, Eastleigh SO50 9YN.  Email: melvyn.reader@eastleigh.gov.uk

Draft Prosperity Strategy (Sue Robbins, Economic Development, EBC)

Older People's (Live Long & Better) Strategy

Equality Guidance

 
The last meeting of the ESP Steering Group received a presentation on Equality Impact Assessments.  At the meeting, Steve Willis (Senior Youth Worker, Hampshire County Youth Service) agreed to make available an Equality Checklist.
