Eastleigh
Strategic Partnership
Introduction
Legislation requires all District
Councils, including Eastleigh Borough Council, to establish a
"Local Strategic Partnership" (LSP) that is responsible
for developing a Community Plan (now officially known as
a "Sustainable Community Strategy") for its local
area. As a result, the Eastleigh
Strategic Partnership (ESP) was formed in April
2003.
Bringing together the main public,
private and voluntary sector organisations that provide
services to the Borough's
residents, the ESP published its first
Community Plan in June 2004. This plan was updated in
October 2009, after a fairly extensive review
process. Through the process of developing and implementing
the Plan, the intention is that the organisations in
the ESP will work more closely together to make best use
of their resources and maximise the benefits to those who live
in the Borough.
The
core members of the ESP are:
- Hampshire County Council
- Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service
- NHS Hampshire
- One Community (formerly Eastleigh Community Services)
However, the membership is
much wider than this, and other organisations will join the
Partnership's meetings depending on the topics being
discussed. In this way we keep the bureaucratic burden on smaller
organisations and voluntary organisations to a minimum.
The Community Plan
The members of the ESP
have developed a Community Plan for
Eastleigh which sets out a
long-term vision for the Borough's future development, along
with a set of shorter-term actions that members of
the Partnership have agreed to undertake in
pursuit of this vision.
